Washington DC & Power of Art Award

2010

I was very fortunate this past month to have been 1 of 32 art teachers selected from across the US to participate in the Power of Art Conference put on through The Lab School of Washington DC and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. I was flown in and put up in the Sofitel hotel where we were treated like royalty. I got to spend the day with Chris Rauschenberg and all the wonderful teachers and staff of The Lab School learning about how powerful art education is and how to use it more powerfully with our students with learning disabilities...or as they have termed it, learning differences. This was a once in a lifetime experience, literally only allowed to win once, that I will never forget. It was such an affirmation to spend so much quality time with a group of other professionals that share my same passion for art and education.
