Welcome

an imageAbout Mrs. Anderson

I am Ms Anderson, your teacher, and I am very excited to be able to be here at Deephaven and work with you all. I look forward to all the creativity I am going to get to see in all your projects. I got my MA in Art from MSU, Mankato and my BA in Psychology and Social Work from Concordia University, Irvine California. I am originally from California but have had the pleasure of being here in MN since 2001. I love MN! If you ever see me outside of school you will most likely see me with my faithful companion Rufus. He is my 3.5 pound dog who loves to travel everywhere I go. You may even have an opportunity to see him at school. He is currently training as a service animal to work in classrooms just like ours.

In 2010 I had the honor of being awarded the Power of Art award by the Lab School of Washington DC and the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. If you would like to see pictures of the experience please click the link above. I was 1 of 32 art teachers chosen out of thousands across the United States to be brought to Washinton DC and share our experiences about tranformative art education and the work we all do. I have spoken at the Art Educators of MN conference regarding an assessment tool I have developed. I hope to be able to use this authentic assessment tool with our young students here at Deephaven. In addition to speaking at our state conference I have also taught professional development clases at Perpich Center for the Arts and various districts around the state of MN and California.I serve on the technology commitee for AEM, and the communications commitee for the Reggio Inspired Network of MN.

I am a part of the following professional associations: NAREA, Reggio Inspired Network of MN, AEM, NAEA

Important Dates: Art Curriculum Nights!

Art curriculum nights! This year I would like to invite the parents to our art curriculum night. I would like to open the lines of communication to share in the work we will be accomplishing this year. I want to thank those of you who offered great feedback in the survey at the end of the year. In responce we will be adding and modifying the curriculum this year to fit even more of your hopes and dreams in art for your child.

Art curriculum Night will be held in the art room from 6:30-7:30 and Student Leadership will be offering child care during that time.

Schoology Info

This year the art room will be using the schoology site for online discussions about art and for viewing student art. We will also be unloading stop motion animations form our 5th graders to view and give feedback on. Thank you for your patience as we work to make schoology an easy to use resource.
